association information

The Verein zur Förderung der Filmkultur in Marburg e.V. [VFFM] (“Association for the Promotion of Film Culture in Marburg”) is a non-profit organization based in Marburg.

Founded in early 2020, the association was initially established with the aim of strengthening regional film and cinema culture.

In response to the events of that year, which led to the cancellation of numerous film and cultural events as well as the closure of cinemas and institutions, the association expanded its scope of activities. Since then, it has also been dedicated to organizing events that actively promote film as a cultural initiatives, projects, and groups while also implementing its own initiatives.

The VFFM is commited to fostering film culture in all its facets and is dedicated to the advancement of this artistic and cultural form.

The associations’s largest ongoing project is the OpenEyes Filmfest Marburg. Since 2021, the VFFM has served as the orginizing body of this international short film festival, which was originally founded in 1994.
