Association information

The Verein zur Förderung der Filmkultur in Marburg e.V. [VFFM]  (“Association for the Promotion of Film Culture in Marburg”) is a non-profit organization based in Marburg. The association was initially founded in January of 2020 with the aim of generating funding for film and cinema culture in Marburg through membership fees and thereby strengthening it.

Due to the events of 2020, which led to the cancellation of many cinema and film events and the closure of participating institutions, the association adjusted its focus and now actively promotes the cultural asset of film.

Since then, the association’s approach is to support the cultural asset of film in all its facets and forms and to serve as an institution for the independent promotion of this art form. In addition to supporting existing projects, groups, and initiatives, the association also carries out its own projects.

An example of a project initiated by the association itself is the OpenEyes Film Festival Marburg. Since 2020, the association has been the organizer of the international short film festival, which was founded in 1994.

Further projects and a dedicated website are in the works! If you are interested in film and culture and would like to actively contribute or support them, consider becoming a member here!
