Parallel to our beginnings in 1994 high up on the Amöneburg, the 30th festival anniversary takes place at the Schlosspark Open-Air Theatre in Marburg!
The open-air theatre in the local castle park sits above the rooftops of the historic old town. Between the many pathways that wind along the rose beds, the event venue offers space for around 1,300 people. First opened in 1928, it has since established itself as a popular summer venue for cultural events.
The exceptional atmosphere of the Schlosspark Open-Air Theatre creates the perfect setting for unforgettable open-air cinema experiences. Under the starry sky, you can enjoy a diverse film program amid impressive surroundings. The balmy summer air and the interplay of light and sound create a unique cinema experience that you won’t soon forget.
In the city center, between the Lahn and Marburg’s upper town, the Capitol —rather unassuming from the outside— upholds the art of cinema. As one of the two venues for the 30th OpenEyes Film Festival, it offers a special atmosphere for film screenings.
The nearly 100-year-old cinema creates, with its invitingly warm character, a space that fosters closeness between audience, film, and filmmakers. This tradition-rich venue provides a special setting for unique stories and brings them to life with modern technology.
